SUSTAINABLE STYLE: 5 MADE BY SJP OUTFITS FOR AUTUMN/WINTER 2024
Share
I think dressing for autumn/winter should be all about staying cozy while looking stylish. It’s the perfect time to mix and match layers like chunky sweaters, smart jackets, and soft scarves to create warm, comfy outfits. The cooler months often inspire deep earthy tones, bold jewel colours, and neutral shades, and statement coats or boots can instantly pull a look together.
This summer, I received an incredible amount of love and support from all my amazing followers, when I decided to try something new. I had a blast experimenting with building outfits around my dresses on the @myindyx app, and it was so exciting to see how much you all enjoyed it. Your feedback, comments, and inspiration made the whole experience even more fun!
As we transition into autumn/winter 2024, I thought it would be a great idea to share some of my favourite looks to carry you into the new season. I’ve put together a collection of my most-loved outfits, which I hope will inspire you as we head into the colder months. Whether it's layering techniques, adding cozy accessories, or transitioning your dresses for fall and winter, these outfits are perfect for all your A/W styling needs. Get ready for some cozy, chic, and effortlessly stylish inspiration!
CASUAL DAY LOOK
Here I’ve used one of our Reworked men’s shirts as the centrepiece - we’ve removed the cuffs, sewn on our signature Wilton frill collar in a contrasting white fabric and embroidered our logo to create this perfect and versatile casual look. Our reworked shirts are designed to be the main attraction of any outfit and due to their nature of being customised from preloved shirts each is a one off piece.
I’ve paired this colourful striped number with a pair of relaxed fit jeans in stonewashed blue, a cute pink beanie from @ynieknit, patent burgundy clutch bag and some metallic pumps to match a couple of the colours in the shirt stripes. This would be a perfect for a spot of Christmas shopping (add a longline coat/trench/cardi if the weather isn’t warm enough to go without). This look would easily take you through to summer as well – replace the beanie with a chunky hairband and roll the jeans for a cropped look in spring. Take a look at how Scarlett Cooke styles up her shirt here.
MONOCHROME MAGIC
If in doubt – black and white! It’s well known that monochrome outfits can be incredibly versatile, effortlessly transitioning from casual daytime looks to polished evening attire with simple changes in accessories or fabric textures. The Wilton Dress in this unusual black and white floral print is a great example of how to carry an outfit from the office through to afterwork drinks. This Wilton is in a mid-length with long sleeve option, so perfect for the cooler days. I’ve paired it here with a smart cropped black jacket with a boxy design, structured lapels, and a double-breasted front, adding a modern, tailored touch to the outfit. Some black pointed-toe mule flats with silver grommet details and buckle embellishments with a pair of black glitter socks that add a subtle shimmer, perfectly combines edgy and chic aesthetics. Lastly, a cheeky zebra print shoulder bag (this on is from @studiokyodai) injects a bold playful element to the outfit… this look gives you permission to close those laptops and get down the pub for a well-deserved wine! This beaut is available to buy on the website now.
RICH RED TONES
A slightly different take on the Wilton dress here, but still a great example of how adaptable these dresses are. This delicate vintage rose pattern is super feminine and the block colour frill provides a lovely contrasting feature across the chest. I’ve combined it with a cosy faux fur jacket for those sherpa vibes, and an oversized leather shoulder bag, both in the same rich wine colour as the frill detail. Finished with some smart black knee length boots (with or without tights depending on the weather!) which go so well with the shorter skirt length of this dress, and a pretty pendant for some interest round the neckline. Take this outfit to brunch, lunch or dinner, it's happy any time of the day! This dress is available to buy through Percy Langley now, and I also have some of this fabric available if you’d like to customise your own garment.
TWO TAKES ON NEUTRAL
The Wilton dress has been adapted again here in this first look – I’ve added cuffs and a frill, a longer skirt length and a pointy collar which makes it perfect for a wintry day as you can hide soe warm layers underneath if needed. The floral design of this particular fabric reminds me of a beautiful Victorian wallpaper, it's really timeless! I’ve added a collarless Grey wool-look coat with statement pockets to keep your hands warm and amatching wool scarf, some chunky boots and a yellow shoulder bag to pick out the yellow highlights in the dress fabric. This dress is available to buy now from Percy Langley
The second look is my take on a beige neutral which is bang on trend this season. This Devizes dress has been designed with long puffy sleeves and a longer skirt length (again, you can hide some thermals underneath if you want to!) in a pretty ditsy pattern with dusky pink and green tones. I’ve popped a long line chunky cardigan in beige over the top to make the small florals sing, and added pink trainers and an iconic Isabel Marant tote to stow all your necessities in. This look would be so comfortable for commuting across the city and the beige is smart enough for a work meeting as much as a coffee date. Grab this dress from Percy Langley now;
PARTY TIME! THE PRELOVED FASHION BONUS EDIT
Both of these outfits were showcased at the Salisbury Preloved fashion show last month and went down really well with everyone there. The. shift dress is made from an old curtain! This beautiful dusky pink fabric is 100% silk with decorative black bows dotted over the front and black ribbons to tie the dress at the back. It would look equally good with a pair of strappy heels as shown here, or a pair of sheer black tights and heeled ankle or knee length boots. This dress is the only one of its kind and is available to buy in my sample sale now.
While we are here, let’s take a minute to give this cute Devizes top some love! These tops were super popular over the summer as a throw on casual top or smart two piece (as shown beautifully here by the lovely Jess), but this picture is proof that the Devizes can be elevated for a prefect Christmas party piece. The bold floral pattern in dark jewel colours is finished with a black satin bow detail at the front and looks a million bucks with the tuxedo trouser and strappy heels pictured here. This one was snapped up on the night, but I still have lots of smart fabric options available… crushed velvet anyone?!
I hope you like my selections!
